                  Upper Canada SC General Policies

Membership Fees: An annual Skate Canada Membership fee is charged per skater unless the skater is a registered member at another club. Skate Canada Membership fee is determined by Skate Canada.  An annual club fee of $50.00 per family will be added in addition to Skate Canada’s fee. Both of these fees are non-refundable.

Registration: Registration is online. There are waiting lists on full sessions. However, the Club reserves the right to close registration at any time. Registration cannot be completed until the club has received the completed online registration with payment in full including the Skate Canada Fee and Club Fee.

Payment: Payment by E-transfer ONLY. Cash and cheque will NOT be accepted. We DO NOT accept credit card payment. Send E-transfer to uppercanadaskating@bellnet.ca. No password is required.

Full payment is due 7 days after the registration date or on or before a specified date that will be posted on the website. Registration may be cancelled if payment is not received by the due date.

Terms: 

  • Registration cannot be accepted from any skater with an outstanding balance.
  • A $45 fee is charged for NSF cheques.
  • A $50 processing fee is charged to all refunds.
  • A $25 admin fee is charged per skater for switching skating days. This does not apply to skaters who complete a program.
  • A $10 per day late fee will be charged for overdue payment (including guest skating fee).
  • Registration  may be cancelled if full payment is not received by the due date. Registration may also be cancelled if the skater does not show up for the first 2 weeks and has not notified us by email.

There are no substitutions of days.

Refunds: 

Skate Canada Fee and Upper Canada Club Fee are nonrefundable.

Refund Policy: NO make up classes, NO refunds. Refunds may be issued if it is due to a medical situation. Refund request must be in writing, addressed to the Board of Directors and accompany with a doctor’s note. A $50 processing fee is charged for all refunds. No prorated fees for missed classes or late registration. No make ups or refunds for sessions missed due to illness, vacations, holidays, competitions, tests, bad weather, maintenance, equipment failure, breakdowns, repairs or management disputes. There are no refunds for guest skate, tests or club events once the fee is submitted.

If a refund request is for missing sessions due to vacation for over 4 weeks, the request must be in writing, addressed to the Board of Directors and accompany with a proof of travel (eg. Plane ticket).

Program cancellation due to Government order - Partial or full refund (by cheque or credit) depending on the percentage of refund the club receive from the City of Toronto for ice rental.

Other Fees:

Guest Skating Fees: Guest skating fee must be paid in full before stepping on the ice. 

Private Lessons Fees: All private coaching fees are payable directly to the skater’s coach. Upper Canada is not responsible for the collection of individual coaching fees and is not involved in any disputes between the skater/parent and the private coach.

Test and Hospitality Fees: Skate Canada tests cannot be tried unless all outstanding balances (including test fees) are paid in full. There is a $18.00 fee per skater to cover judges’ hospitality in addition to test fees.

Safety:

Helmets: In accordance with Skate Canada, CSA approved hockey helmets must be worn by all skaters who have not passed CanSkate Stage 5. Coaches enforce helmet policy. Skaters will not be allowed to go on the ice if proper helmet is not worn. No refund will be issued for the missed session.

Children under the age of 10, are not allowed to be left unattended by a parent for safety reasons.
Parents of skaters 10 years and under MUST remain on the premises during their child’s entire session. This applies to skaters in all CanSkate AND STARSkate programs. 

Ice Use and Schedule: Ice usage and schedule are subject to change at the discretion of the Club.
