Skate Canada CanSkate Program
CanSkate is Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program that has taught millions of Canadians to reach their recreational and competitive goals on the ice.The CanSkate program is geared to beginners of all ages, children and adults. CanSkate offers basic skating instruction taught in a group lesson format by Skate Canada professional coaches who are assisted by trained program assistants.Whether you are looking to skate for recreation fitness or fun, or to improve basic skating skills for figure skating, hockey, ringette or speed skating, CanSkate will get you there. Skaters of all ages learn best when they are active, engaged, moving, challenged, motivated and having fun.

Programs are conducted in a fun, friendly environment. CanSkate focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Skaters progress at their own pace and earn badges as they advance through the six stages of the CanSkate program.
Ratio (max): 10 skaters:1 certified coach for the CanSkate 1-6 program and 5 skaters:1 coach for the Pre-CanSkate program.

Upper Canada SC CanSkate Program
Upper Canada Skating Club offers the following CanSkate programs based on age and ability:
Pre-CanSkate - ages 3-5; no skating ability is required; group lesson format; no private lessons are available for Pre-CanSkaters. Ratio: 5 skaters:1 certified coach
CanSkate 1-6 - ages 6-12; no skating ability is required. Skaters are assessed during their first class and are placed in the appropriate level. Skaters who are between 3 to 5 years old must have passed Pre-CanSkate to be eligible for this program. Group lesson format only during the session. Ratio: 6-8 (max.10) skaters:1 certified coach.
CanSkate Private lessons are available in addition to the group lessons on a separate session with additional cost. Click here for information.
Teen Learn to Skate - ages 13-17; no skating ability is required; group lesson format; private lessons are available in addition to the group lesson.
Adult Learn to Skate - ages 18+; no skating ability is required; group lesson format; private lessons are available in addition to the group lesson.
Ratio for Teen/Adult Learn to Skate: 3-6 skaters (depending on the number, age and ability of the skaters on the session) : 1 certified coach.

CanSkate Co-ordinator
The CanSkate Co-ordinator ensures the smooth running of the CanSkate program at the club. The co-ordinator is responsible for the coordination, scheduling and direction of all on-ice programs including the Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate (level 1 to 6) and the Teen/Adult Learn to Skate programs.
