Adult/Teen 13+ Learn to Skate
The Adult/Teen Learn to Skate program teaches the fundamentals of skating required for recreational skating, hockey, ringette and figure skating. Lesson are given in group format and skaters progress at their own pace.
This session is open to skaters age 13+ and older who are in the "learn to skate" stage. Skaters will be grouped according to age and ability.
Private lessons are available on the Adult/Teen Learn to Skate session. Teen skaters who complete the program will advance to the STARSkate STAR 1 program. Adult skaters who complete the program will advance to the Adult STARSkate program.
CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory for all Teen and Adult skaters in level 1-5. Helmets are optional for skaters in level 6.
Session includes 10 min. warm up, a 30 min. group lesson & a 30 min. practice time/private lesson.
Eligibility
Teen Program: Age Eligibility – ages 13 - 17 as of Sept. 7 2024 (for Fall session); Jan. 1, 2025 ( for the Winter session); and Mar. 17, 2025 (for Spring 2024 session).
Adult Program : Age Eligibility – ages 18+ as of Sept. 7 2024 (for Fall session); Jan.1 , 2025 (for the Winter session); and Mar. 17, 2025 (for Spring 2024 session).
What to wear skating ?
Skaters should wear warm comfortable clothing. Preferably dress in layers. Track pants or yoga pants, warm jacket or fleece jacket.
Must wear gloves.
What equipment you need for your skating lessons ?
Properly fitted hockey or figure skates, CSA approved hockey helmet, skate guard (hard and soft). For detailed information, click here.
