Assessment Days (STAR 6 - Gold)

Assessment is a very important part of a skater’s development as it measures their progress and allows them to see the results of their hard work.  Each skater progresses at his/her own speed. When your coach feels that the skater is ready to be assessed, they will notify the skater/parent of the upcoming Assessment Days. Skaters who are testing at the STAR 6 - Gold level will participate in a scheduled Assessment Day and will be assessed by an evaluator assigned by Skate Ontario.

2023-2024 Season
Assessment Day # 1: 1 Feb. 2024 (tentative from 6:30 - 9 pm)
Assessment Dat # 2 : 9 May, 2024 (tentative from 6:30 - 9 pm)

The Assessment Coordinator organizes the test days, makes arrangements for the evaluators, and collects the test list from the coaches. A final test schedule is then done and share with the skaters by email and/or posting on bulletin board outside our office. The schedule may include a time which may require your child to miss school or an after school activity.

  • Assessment Days are special days set aside for skaters to take tests at the STAR 6 - Gold level.
  • Upper Canada SC typically offers 2 Assessment Days during the season.
  • There are separate assessments for each of freeskate (Elements and Program), ice dance, skating skills and Artistic.
  • Coaches have to submit a tentative test list up to 4 weeks in advance, and final decisions are due 2 weeks before the test.
  • After this point, a test that is not complete is considered an automatic "RETRY" and you will be charged the fee for the test.

  • PLEASE LET YOUR COACH KNOW IF YOU WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ON THAT DATE. There may be opportunities to attend test days at other local area clubs.
