Learn to Skate

The Skate Ontario CanSkate Excellence Recognition Program recognizes clubs that demonstrate best practices in delivering CanSkate. Upper Canada Skating Club has earned the “Exceeded Standard” status—meaning we not only meet all Skate Canada guidelines but also go above and beyond to offer an exceptional experience for our skaters.
CanSkate is leading Learn to Skate program, helping millions reach their recreational and competitive goals. It’s designed for beginners of all ages and teaches skating fundamentals in a fun, progressive way.
Lessons are taught in small groups (max 10 skaters) by Certified Skate Canada Professional Coaches, with support from trained Program Assistants. Skaters learn skills they can use in figure skating, hockey, ringette, speed skating, and synchronized skating. They progress at their own pace, earning ribbons and badges through six stages.
